The Late Archbishop Michael Francis is seen here having refreshments with Nuns from the Convent. If you can, tell us who else is in this picture and when it was taken.
If St. Teresa's Convent were defined as a family, the Late Mother Nofa would be the family's Matriarch. The first time I heard the name Mother Nofa, my mother was recounting her days as a student at STC. Mother Nofa was both her Principal and Teacher. So it came as no surprise that my mother was filled with pure nostalgia when I showed her this picture of Mother Nofa. Seeing the picture had her reliving moments with Mother Nofa at STC. I imagine many graduates or students who studied under the tutelage of Mother Nofa feel the same way.
Please share your memories of the Late Mother Nofa in the comments section below.
As the caption on the picture indicates, Mothers Patern and Fergus are seen here with boarders at what was then known as St. Teresa' Compound. There are 2 little boys in this picture because at the time, STC enrolled boys in elementary. And who knew that this gem would feature the affable Archbishop Michael Francis. The story this picture tells is as much about him, as it is about STC. I have no idea when this picture was taken, but the most striking image is a cuddly little Michael Francis, at probably age 5. For many of us who first met him when he was Father MIchael Francis, this image surely tells us where he got his start. RIP Archbishop Michael Francis.
