FOOTNOTE: Long before the basketball rivalry of the 70s that produced epic battles between the Saints Friskies, the Spartans, and the Foxes, there was the soccer rivalry between the Saints and Foxes during the 50s and 60s. That rivalry also produced some of the most memorable games that Saints Friskies of that era still talk about today.
In 1978 there was not a better point guard than Lami Mason...otherwise known as Zero Zero. Win or lose, Lami was a major headache for all comers. He could take you off the dribble, bust you from outside, finish at the rim, dish out dimes.... and had sick handles. In this game in 1978 he torched the Foxes of CWA at ACS gym. If we had such awards, Lami would have won All-Conference, All-City, All-County, All-State. He was that good...a perennial All-Star!
YMCA circa 1984: Some of the players pictured here are Mina Tarpeh, Gloria Metzger, Rueseal Brewer, Martha Zoegan, Sharon Brewer, Juliana S'kon Koffa (Dixon), Tidi Hodge, Williette Blossom Birch, and Quallyna Porte. Of course they were coached by the late great Psycho (Alexander Kojo Anderson)
