Four companies donated a total of $8,000.00 to SFAA's A2S Program. They are: McCormick Corporation, International Law Group, United Commodities, Inc., and Happy Sprouts Learning Center.

McCormick Corporation, the spices, flavoring and seasonings giant, donated $2500.00 to SFAA's A2S Program. The donation was made possible through the initiative of the Chair of SFAA's Finance Committee, Juliana Koffa Dixon '86, who works for McCormick Corporation as Finance Manager - Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). McCormick Corporation promotes a culture of giving through corporate and employee philanthropy.

United Commodities, Inc. (UCI), an international soft commodities trading company with its headquarters in Monrovia, Liberia, also donated $2,500.00. The company is a major rice trader in Liberia and other countries in the Mano River Union. UCI also trades sugar in Liberia and Sierra Leone. You can visit UCI at uciliberia.com.

International Law Group LLC (ILG), also headquartered in Monrovia, Liberia, is an international law firm that provides legal services to corporate and government clients who need expertise from lawyers familiar with government policies and practices. They donated $2,500.00. You can visit ILG at www.ilgliberia.com.

Happy Sprouts Learning Center (HSLC), located in Columbia, MD, donated $500.00 to our A2S Program. Mrs. Pauline Gardiner, proprietor of HSLC, stated that she is inspired by the goals and accomplishments of the program because it is consistent with her belief in the educational development of children.

Happy Sprouts Learning Center is a licensed child care center that creates a warm and nurturing environment for children to learn, play, and fellowship. The donations are a direct result of SFAA's strategy designed to seek alternative sources of funding for our projects. This gives a big boost to our goal of doubling our A2S sponsorship for Academic Year 2018 - 2019.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR AN OUTSTANDING 8

As we prepare to gather for our 24th Annual National Convention, we pause to reflect on all of our accomplishments during the Year June 2017 - May 2018. What we were able to accomplish would not have been possible without the support and participation of alumni, former students, family, friends and supporters. We say thank you to all of you for your support and contributions. There are also those members of Saints Friskies Alumni Association who have done much

more than we have asked of them. For their Outstanding Service, we will bestow upon them SFAA President's Leadership Award for Outstanding Service, June 2017 - May 2018. Those selected for this special recognition, who we call our Outstanding 8, are:

HONOREES - SFAA 24TH NATIONAL CONVENTION

At our annual convention, we take time honor those who have made outstanding contributions to St. Teresa's Convent (STC), St. Patrick's High School (SPHS) or Santis Friskies Alumni Association. We also honor members who provide charitable service towards to upliftment of the lives of the children of Liberia. We do this to both acknowledge and show appreciation for their distinguished service. Those nominated for this honor at our 24th Annual National Convention are the following:

DR. R EVANS YANCY: KEYNOTE SPEAKER - CONVENTION 2018

Dr. R. Evans Yancy

Dr. R. Evans Yancy, the son of Seaborn Nathaniel Yancy and Hannah Zipporah Pratt is a banker by profession. He joined the staff of the National Housing and Savings Bank (NH&SB) in Liberia as a Management Trainee in 1978 and rose through the ranks of management, culminating in his ascension to the presidency of the bank from 1991-1993. Here in the U.S., he has worked as an officer at the Bank of Boston, NationsBank and Citizens Trust Bank of Atlanta. He is currently the Senior Credit Risk Specialist of the Large Bank Team of the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance.

He graduated with honors from St. Patrick’s High School in 1973 and subsequently matriculated at the University of Liberia, where he received a Bachelor of Business

Administration degree with emphasis on Economics, in 1977. Dr. R. Evans Yancy holds a Doctor of Divinity Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

LET'S REBUILD ST. PATRICK'S

We are pleased to announce the formation of SFAA’s Committee to Rebuild St. Patrick’s (CORES). The purpose of CORES is to re-engage in the effort to rebuild St. Patrick’s. It will define a vision, set a strategy, create and implement a plan to achieve this most challenging goal.

We make this announcement with mixed emotions.

As excited as we are about the formation of CORES,we are sad that we will miss one of our most distinguished CORES Advisors, Magdalene Darling Gbenyon-McClain, Friskies Class of ‘69.

By now most of you, if not all, are aware that we lost Darling a few days after she arrived in Liberia last week. She was excited about the prospect of rebuilding St. Patrick's, and volunteered to begin initial CORES work while visiting Liberia. Her untimely demise is devastating to all of us.

In her memory, Darling will remain listed on our website as Advisor to CORES through our 24th National Convention. We do this to honor her contributions to SFAA.

RECRUITMENT OF A2S SPONSORS FOR 2018-2019 UNDERWAY

Sister Evelina, Principal of STC, and Ms. Wokie Kpanyor, Vice Principal of STC, with students benefiting from SFAA's Alumni-To-Students Sponsorship Program (A2S)

Recruitment of sponsors for Academic Year 2018-2019 for our Alumni-To-Student Sponsorship (A2S) program is underway. During academic year 2017 -2018, we sponsored 51 students at the cost of $24,000.00. We are grateful to all of our sponsors and supporters who made this program possible. But, we cannot stop there. More girls at STC need our help.

Our goal for Academic Year 2018-2019 is double our sponsorship from fifty-one (51) to one hundred (100) girls. We estimate the cost at $50,000.00. With your help, we know we can do it.

SFAA's Alumni-To-Student Sponsorship Program (A2S) was launched in August 2017. The year-to-year program matches alumni with students, with alumni making a commitment to provide financial assistance. Since then, the positive impact of the program on the girls, their families and the institution is undeniable. Tuition and supplies for deserving students are paid, consequently relieving parents and guardians of that financial burden. The program also generates much needed revenue for the school to operate.

With SFAA's Class Challenge, corporate sponsors recruitment initiative, grant solicitation etc., we are continuously seeking opportunities to generate more funding for the program.
